Federal Candidate Development Program
Seeking high performing individuals to participate in a development program designed to prepare candidates for the SES

As today's Federal Government evolves to meet ever higher standards, agencies are challenged to find and train effective executives to achieve our nation's goals. Increasingly, many agencies must provide leadership training that focuses on global and cross-cutting management issues. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), working in partnership with Federal agencies, has developed the Federal Candidate Development Program (Fed CDP) to achieve these goals.

Fed CDP is dedicated to identifying and developing a cadre of high performing individuals for the Senior Executive Service (SES) of the Federal Government. Upon selection into the program, candidates will be placed into a GS-15 position by participating agencies for the duration of this twelve-month program.  Candidates will take part in a curriculum that includes classroom work, interagency experience, on-the-job training, mentoring, coaching, field experience, and Web-based learning. Participants will gain, and therefore offer, a broader perspective as they learn with and from other agency candidates.

What are the duty locations?  Most Fed CDP positions are located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Office of Personnel Management - Federal Investigative Services Division is announcing its position(s) for Washington, DC and Boyers, PA.

Who may apply?  Fed CDP is open to all qualified individuals currently serving in a Federal civil service position at the GS-15 or equivalent level. In addition, applicants must possess at least one year of leadership experience at the GS-15 level or its equivalent. This leadership experience must include one year of supervisory experience.

What is the application period for this announcement?  Applications will be accepted from Wednesday, January 09, 2008 until  11:59 p.m. EST of the day OPM receives the 500th completed. If that milestone is not reached before the 14th day of the open period, the application will close at 11:59 p.m. EST Tuesday, January 22, 2008.
